Mud pumps are part of the drilling equipment for oil production. Mud pumps are used for production or exploration drilling.
During operation, the pump performs the following functions:
- ensures circulation of mud fluid in the well;
- prevents settling of drill cuttings and rise of drilled rock to the surface;
- cleans the bottom hole and well from rock;
- provides bit cooling;
- drives hydraulic downhole motors.
