Mud pumps are part of the drilling equipment, the scope of which is oil production. Mud pumps are used in the process of production or exploration drilling.
During operation, the pump performs the following functions:
- ensures circulation of drill fluid in the well;
- prevents settling of drill cuttings and rise of drilled rock to the surface;
- cleans the bottom hole and well from rock;
- provides bit cooling;
- drives hydraulic downhole motors.
